Griffin Feeney
I am a craftsman and a woodworker from Washington, D.C. My specialty focuses on wood joinery integrated with balanced design. To describe the style of furniture I design in one phrase, it would be traditional Japanese with a hint of Scandinavian. The passion for furniture sprouted from observing ancient Japanese temples, capable of withstanding earthquakes and natural disasters without the use of metal fasteners. These temples use a method called timber framing. Cutting and assembling wood beams like puzzle pieces, each piece and shape having its own structural purpose in the whole of the structure. Wood in its own rite is a mysterious beauty, one which I explore through furniture forms and humble myself with from the patience it requires.
