According to the future today institute, by 2050, 40% + of the workforce will be replaced by automation, universal Basic Income will be implemented to relieve financial stress, swarm robots and 3D printing will replace manufacturing, products will cease to exist as tangible objects and will exist as easily accessible files. This is my predicted future and this project was designed to fit within that future.
The user interface of the product allows you to change your furniture in real time with augmented reality glasses.
The user can pick between multiple designer brand furniture pieces or create them on their own.
Create settings ranging form dining to social lounging to even personal spaces that are pre-loaded, allowing you to be at home wherever in the world that also has this product.
This is a single module of the swarm robot as it appears in the other images as orange beads the size of a pea. The robot is submerged in a gel like substrate consisting of smart materials, that harden and soften based on the electrical pulses provided by the bot itself. The bots move using this changing in viscosity and depending on what portion of the furniture you sit on / interact with, will be as soft as a cushion or as hard as marble.
Flo-Space is a projected furniture production method that has applications for virtual reality environments, exercise rooms, play spaces and more. You create your space and you live wherever you want to live and forget about owning a home, your home will now be everywhere you go.
